One-page cheatsheet below!

Most communication is non-verbal.

Aim to understand, first.

Distinguish advocacy and inquiry. Know the difference between "ask" and "tell" conversations.

Use reflective listening: Paraphrase, check accuracy, build empathy.

Conflict can be productive. Disagreement is not necessarily bad.

When possible, help people save face.

Ask open-ended questions. Seek out examples and stories.

If you start thinking "it's your fault" or "you did this on purpose", pause and reset.

It's ok to say nothing. Sometimes, one cannot improve upon silence.

Notice the big picture: Why are we having this conversation in the first place?
