167: New Year
The Gregorian Calendar turns a page (2026).
Happy New Year, friends!
Wishing you a great 2026.
A few reflections below.
After a tough 2024, 2025 was a year of returning to movement, work, routines, art.
Last year, I published Fire Jars on parenting, collected crowdsourced wisdom about injuries, and explored movement - lunging, brachiation, and spinal health. I launched an app (ttyl) with a friend, interviewed the founders of FutureMe / More to That / Reframe Systems, recorded music, drew silly puns, and kicked some balls.
2025, by the numbers
📨 13 new posts
📝 7,367 words
✍️ 41 drawings
📹 11 videos
📱 1 mobile app

Two highlights
I'm proud of launching ttyl.
I also wrote about why simple protocols matter - HTML, RSS, newsletters - and why I want to see more friends share their art. I think there's something timeless and honest about regular people publishing non-commercial stuff on the open web. Less performance and posturing. More conversation and connection over "content".
A few people have told me that this post inspired them to share more. I am honored!

Some of my intentions
In 2026, I will offer up patience to myself and others. I'm summoning courage, authenticity, and in-person time with people I love. More visits, more time in nature.

The world can sometimes feel heavy, but our children keep me light and playful.
This blog will keep wandering, as it does. Consistent threads are emerging over time.
My commitment: When you reply to any email, I will read it and write you back.
Thanks for being part of The Fire Jar!
Here's to a year of good health, community, and rest.
